Hyperconnectivity Research
The first Erasmediah result will be a comprehensive three-level Research and Investigation on Young People’s social media Hyperconnectivity, on its Risks and Possible Ways to Reduce them. To carry out this research project partners will conduct:
– a Desk Research on the general and European situation of over-exposure to social media and online networking platforms for youth aged 11-18. This will include descriptions and analysis about the measures being taken by European. Governments to solve the problems related to social media hyperconnectivity among the youngsters.
– 6 National Reports about the specific situation, issues and challenges faced in each partner country and actual and/or possible ways to solve these issues.
– 6 different national questionnaires designed, applied to a relevant group of stakeholders, and analysed by the partners.
Training Course "Education Reinforcement against Young People's Social Media Hyperconnectivity"
The project partners will create an effective training and coaching tool for youth workers/facilitators/educators working with 11–18-year-olds, so that they can provide educational reinforcement and improve the knowledge of their young beneficiaries about the dangers of overexposure to social media and improve the knowledge of their young beneficiaries about the dangers of overexposure to social media and try to prevent these risks. The Course will be made of around 7 Digital Modules, each one trying to deal in a comprehensive, consistent manner with one of the issues or dangers arising from the over-exposure or hyperconnectivity of young people to social media and online networking platforms, also providing solutions and tools for the educational reinforcement on these issues, to help youngsters deal with them.
All 7 modules will be transversally focusing on the importance of privacy setting regulations and instrument. Indicatively, the topics or issues treated in the seven modules will be:
– Negative Effects of Social Media Over-exposure and Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) in Youngsters;
– Online gaming, social gaming, gambling and dependence;
– Online grooming;
– TikTok over-exposure and its dangers;
– Dangerous online challenges, hoax challenges;
– Cyber-bullying, online body-shaming, hate speech;
– Fake news, phishing, Internet safety
Some of the possible copy strategies or solutions to be proposed in the training course, with possible tools to be implemented directly with young people during workshops or educational activities, will be Media Literacy Education; teaching Mindfulness and self-regulation; Gambling education; reality Checking; Social Media Detox; Promotion of healthier, alternative habits and activities; Community Building; etc.
